A teacher has been charged with asking a 13-year-old girl to send him naked pictures while he was working at school.
Alex Simpson, 39, who taught English at Trinity Grammar in Sydney, Australia, was arrested on the grounds of the elite private boys’ school on Thursday.
The father has been accused of discussing sex acts with a 13-year-old girl who was actually an undercover police officer.
He allegedly sent sexually explicit images to the girl from his phone while working at school.
Police raided the teacher’s home on Thursday and seized his electronic devices and clothing.
Detective Acting Superintendent Chris Goddard said: “A person in a position of trust such as a teacher and engaging in this type of activity is certainly of a significant nature and they are very serious charges.”
Students at Trinity Grammar were shocked to see officers pull up at the school when they were still in class on Thursday.
Tim Bowden, head of Trinity Grammar headteacher, said the school was co-operating with police, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
He added: “The police have informed the school that there is no suggestion that offences have been committed against students of the school.”
Simpson had worked at the school since 2015, teaching English, coaching rugby and helping the school cadets programme.
The teacher has been charged with sending indecent material to a person under 16 and soliciting child abuse material.
He was denied bail at a court hearing on Friday and is due back in court on October 28.
